In 2010 the award-winning book, From a Clear Blue Sky, written by the victim of an IRA bomb was published in hardback by Random House and later in paperback by Hutchinson. As Researcher, Helen Phelps led the investigative process.
She negotiated and undertook sensitive interviews with eye witnesses and members of the emergency services; nurtured relationships with key contributors and organisations including Irish Police and Court Services, Metropolitan Police, British and Commonwealth Office, University of Southampton and with journalists and historians. The findings were analysed and disseminated to provide an accurate account of events and later catalogued and stored.
Throughout this time, Helen provided support and logistical assistance to the author. Following on from the publication of From A Clear Blue Sky, Helen created content and oversaw the creation of a website to accompany the book. The site continues to require monitoring, making amendments in HTML and responding to enquiries.
Helen Phelps has been managing the office of a senior executive with diverse and active interests in land development, aviation and charitable organisations.
Working from both office and home the work has taken Helen into project management; diary management; maintaining business accounts; juggling numerous tasks from stationary requests, setting up appointments to making travel arrangements and drafting letters; responding to a wide range of enquiries on telephone and email; organising office filing systems; and maintaining an up-to-date contacts list.
The Ashfield Estate commissioned a short film on the building of Luzborough Green, a housing development in Hampshire. As a self-shooting Producer/Director, Helen Phelps captured the evolution of 56 homes from a bare field. This meant reviewing the location and negotiating filming approval; writing a proposal and script; accessing and maintaining relationships with individuals; arranging and overseeing the edit; and successfully delivering the project on budget and on time.
